Scholarship fund to support accelerated nursing students in perpetuity.
The George Mason University College of Health and Human Services School of Nursing is pleased to announce the Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship Fund for students in the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The endowed scholarship supports the cost of tuition for students with academic merit and who demonstrate financial need.
“We are thankful to the Helene Fuld Health Trust for offering our students scholarships that provide financial support and enable our students to focus on their studies. Our accelerated BSN students are highly motivated to finish the program and enter the workforce as baccalaureate-prepared nurses equipped to provide competent and compassionate nursing care for individuals and populations. Financial support contributes to the achievement of that goal,” says Dr. Martha (Marti) Kubik, Director of the School of Nursing at Mason.
The College of Health and Human Services has more than 3,100 graduate and undergraduate students with a majority-minority student body. This year, there are 78 students enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program with one of its’ most diverse classes to-date with 59% minority students and 37% first-generation college students.
The Helene Fuld Health Trust was established in 1953 and is the nation’s largest funder devoted exclusively to nursing students and nursing education. The trust establishes endowed scholarships for students in baccalaureate programs at selected nursing schools through an invitational only process. The trust awards grants to leading nursing schools and other organizations which undertake innovative programs designed to develop and expand the professional and leadership skills of nursing students, faculty, and administration.
