Impact & Distinction

Innovative Education

George Mason prepares students for the evolving healthcare landscape through innovative educational approaches that combine classroom learning, clinical practice, simulation, and immersive technologies. Faculty research has demonstrated the effectiveness of virtual reality and simulation-based learning in preparing future nurses, while the Lab for Immersive Technologies and Simulation is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, a distinction achieved by only a limited number of organizations worldwide.

Research That Improves Health Outcomes

Dewberry Evans Nursing faculty lead research and practice initiatives that address some of today's most pressing healthcare challenges, from workforce development and health equity to forensic science, community health, and behavioral health. Through externally funded research, clinical innovation, and community partnerships, faculty are developing solutions that improve health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.

Community Engagement and Service

Through the Mason and Partners (MAP) Clinics and other community initiatives, George Mason helps expand access to care for underserved and high-risk populations throughout Northern Virginia. These nurse-managed clinics bring together academic and community resources to provide health services, preventative care, education, and support while creating meaningful learning opportunities for students.

Preparing Future Leaders

Guided by a vision to produce the next generation of nursing leaders, George Mason equips students to address the challenges of an increasingly complex and diverse healthcare environment. Students develop the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to lead in clinical practice, education, research, and healthcare organizations.
